When you're tall, one of the traits that goes along with long limbs is long feet. I've spent most of my life scouring shoes from the back racks of the shoe department, lusting after the petit heel that just won't fit. While I thought the key to hiding feet that aren't necessarily a size 6 or 7 was to steer clear of anything pointed, I've learned that embracing the point might actually be the key. A tapered point can actually add an extra bit of elegance to an outfit while slimming feet, rather than pointing out their size. After seeing the return of the pointed pump in Spring footwear, I decided that a slender point would be the chicest option for ballet flats and heels during the warm and sunny months to come.
Also, I would love it if you could vote for me in the Refinery29 Style Blogger Contest! Just click the link, then the little heart next to my name to vote. Thank you for the support :)

I'm not tall but I struggle wearing heels. I used to have the most beautiful pair of black lamb leather flats that had polka-dot cut-outs. They were incredibly soft. I shouldn't have thrown them out; I should have had the teeny heel replaced. I can't remember the brand and I've never seen anything like them since and I'm kicking myself! (Kicking myself with inferior shoes...)
ReplyDeleteI have been looking for a pair of good pointed shoes. Love the heidee ones.

ADORE #1 and #7. I'm a total flats fiend.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited that pointy shoes are coming back. It's my favorite trend, and perhaps I should invest in #2? :) Great round-up, Jacklyn!
ReplyDeleteLove the shoes! Just found you from the Refinery site--I grew up in Ann Arbor! Sigh--my favorite place in the world. Now I live about 45 minutes away. So excited to read more about your blog!!

DeleteSeriously obsessed with #5! Gorgeous! www.casualglamorous.com
ReplyDeleteSOOO pretty! Love the pink/black pair, and the yellow!
ReplyDeleteAs a size 11, I have to disagree with you here. Pointed flats are not a good look for anyone over a 10! Pointed heels are less obvious - love the options you suggested!
ReplyDeletepoint shoes are my go-to shoe shape of choice - whether they are in style or not, I constantly have at least 3 pairs of black pointy toe pumps at a time
