Now that the sun is shining brightly and more hours are spent outside, I've turned my focus to sun protection when I'm choosing lotions and face products. I've sort of become a sunscreen fanatic as I've gotten older, luckily those few years lying in the sun with glittering tanning oil and sun-in soaked strands are long gone. I do however like to have a little color, but I've learned a few tricks to stay safe and still get color. The key to staying burn free are to cover the spf bases when it comes to going outside. Choose a daily moisturizer with protection that you use everyday (year round too!), a high spf face sunscreen if you're lounging (I use 70+), a self tanner to get color the safe way, a spray sunscreen for your body, and last but not least, lip balm with protection too. Below is the routine I've learned to follow.
For normal days and during the work week: In the morning, smooth on your moisturizer and lip balm, cover up with the self tanner (I love Jergens new one with spf added).
For long days and weekends in the sun: Follow the steps above, but toss the high face spf and spray sunscreen in your bag so you can touch up throughout the day and after swimming.
This week, I'm off to Chicago for work, but I'm leaving you all with little treat. Tomorrow I'm sharing an incredible giveaway from a talented designer! Make sure to check back in the morning to enter. Hope everyone has a great week.

This reminds me to go buy self tanner :-)

This couldn't come at a more perfect time–I just got an accidental sunburn (my first in probably a decade!), and need to start carrying sunscreen in my bag for afternoons like yesterday!
ReplyDeleteI haven't used the Jergens in so long! does it still have the distinctive scent?? I like that they added sunscreen, I'm intrigued!
ReplyDeleteHaha - can't help but think of our convo a couple years ago when I grilled you about sunscreen ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm curious about the Jergens too - the scent was horrible before but maybe it has improved? Otherwise, L'Oreal Sublime Bronze is a great spray! I'm "tan" in June Gloom LA....
