Resort living

Clockwise from left: Stewart bed, Macy's; Coral stripe serving tray, Target; Color pop glasses, Anthropologie; DWR cotton towels (find similar ones at Macy's); Bodum Eileen french press, Sur la Table

After traveling for work these past few weeks, nothing feels better than crawling into my own bed, using my own shower, and dining on my own set of plates. However, the hotel living I became used to inspired me to add a little resort luxe to my own home (...even though my temporary home wasn't exactly a vacation worthy hotel). Checking into a beautiful hotel always gets me excited for the fluffy towels stacked high in the bathroom, feathery sheets that manage to keep you cool and warm at the same time, breakfast served on linen covered tables presented under large silver domes, and decor that offers an understated yet conversation worthy appearance. After checkout, those little luxuries are often left behind too. These simple home additions are the perfect way to keep the vacation spirit going, whether it is with soft white towels, clean glasses at every turn, coffee served in a special carafe, or a statement making bed.

  1. John and I moved into a little studio when we first got to SF, and used hotel suites as our decorating inspiration–it makes even small spaces feel luxe!

  3. Hotels if decorated properly definitely entice you to stay! Years ago, I travelled 100% for my job and was platinum at starwood, I had stayed over 50 nights at W hotel. I could live there for sure!

    1. They are hard to find sometimes. I've found a great selection at Target.

  8. These days all I want to do is sit in a poll, far far away from the bed.
