The power skirt

Left to right: Miss Selfridge, Herve Leger, LWren Scott, Acqua di Parma Gelsomino Nobile

Bright colors, short skirts, silk shirts, and delicate sandals are needed staples in the summer, but there are those times when the weather cools slightly that an iconic and womanly piece of clothing gets the chance to shine. The sleek black pencil skirt looks unassuming, but its chic simplicity can put any over the top cocktail dress to shame (and they are available in every price range). I've always been drawn to classic pieces that can live in the closet forever, something that can transform with every trend, and offer a bit of mystery to an outfit. Paired with a deep fragrance that can become a signature scent, an understated ponytail, and a pop of red on the nails or lips and the look truly shines.
