rose and soft blue

Chiffon top, H&M (similar here); Jeans, Urban Outfitters; Gold flats, H&M; Sunglasses, Topshop (similar here); Jewelry, vintage

I always tell myself that instead of buying a bunch of lower priced items I'm going to save up and buy one high price item. This goal holds up for a few days, until I find myself perusing online sales or quickly running into H&M "just to look" and walking out with a few new items. I see the importance of investing in higher quality items, but a few of my most well worn and time tested items have actually come from lower cost stores. This chiffon blouse is exactly that, an item that was bought on a whim and has lasted me through many years and outfits. I love the peplum shape that is created with the soft chiffon waves, it's a summery approach to the angled shape of the thicker tops popping up. Paired with cropped jeans, simple ballet flats, feminine jewelry, and equally soft hued sunglasses, the outfit makes a warm weather look that feels great on breezy afternoons. Throw in a quick pre-dinner cocktail on the patio and the easy look appears quite feminine.

  1. I agree with you. I have lately been investing on quality items but you never know what you will find at H&M or Forever 21. I mean, my favorite tench coat is from Forever 21 and it has lasted me a few years now. I think the key is to balance between both.

  5. the top has a really lovely soft hue. i tend to invest in good quality items as well, but i still browse the racks of f21 and similar stores. you never know what you can stumble upon. one of my favorite tops in my closet is a silk top that i bought at f21 about a year ago. it is definitely worth more than the $24.99 i spent on it :)

  7. This top is so pretty! I do the exact same thing- tell myself I'm going to save up for good quality items, then blow it all on a bunch of cheap things. Oh well, as long as it's cute, right? ;) Thanks for visiting my blog, I love yours and I'm definitely following!

  9. I feel the same way!!! I always say, *next time* I wont buy this blazer from F21... or who cares it's only $20. If I didn't have all those $20 purchases, I'd have a pretty fancy closet right now!

  10. Cute! Love it with the ladylike flats. I'm always trying to be better about investment pieces too - I have a list of a few particular things (riding boots, blazer, jeans) that I want to save up and buy nice ones because I find they really do fit and feel better. But sometimes those cheaper pieces really are great wardrobe additions - I guess the key thing I need to learn is which pieces, whether cheap or investment, that I'm truly going to love to death, and quit buying the bunch of cheap ones on a whim that end up getting only a couple of wears...
