Creative collaboration
When I first started blogging I tried to do everything on my own. Photos, writing, illustrations, even a bit of the original HTML was all on my plate. After almost four years blogging, I've definitely reached a style and process that I love, but have learned the importance of brainstorming and building content with other creative people. Once I began reaching out to shop owners, artists, photographers, and more I found my inspiration and love of styling pushed even further. Recently I've teamed up with a fabulous photographer who offers an edge to a handful of my photos that only another pair of eyes could achieve. HMN Photography and my styling passion have contributed to some of my favorite posts, like a BBQ table setting, stationary store photo shoot, and a Wedding Week DIY. Creative sessions are some of my favorite moments in blogging because they not only allow great content to be created, but the ideas that emerge keep both contributor's inspirations and desire to move ahead thriving. Recently Heather from HMN Photography arranged a little photoshoot with the talented Kathy Davies to introduce our recent and future planning sessions. I'll always keep my content and look consistent with my style, but relying on a little help from those talented people out there is what keeps me moving forward.
I would love to hear how some of you like to collaborate with others. Have you reached out to people who inspire you to branch into new territories or do you find it easier to work alone?

My only collaborations so far have been with other fellow bloggers, personal style ones. I have been wanting to improve my photography skills in terms of portraits and working with some of these bloggers, who are also my friends IRL, has helped me with this goal. I get to practice my photography skills, they get outfit photos for their blogs and it works.
ReplyDeleteMy blogs have been London centered, but now I'm moving to Los Angeles I'm bringing my best friend in to write some London centred content, and I'm so excited about starting to collaborate with her!
ReplyDeleteWhat an exciting announcement! I haven't really brought anyone official in to help me, but I'm sure I will!

Beautiful black and white photo! I think it's amazing when you collaborate with other bloggers and I hope that one day I can do that! However, if I were to be completely honest, I love working alone! xoxoxo
