Fixer upper

See below for product descriptions and links

A long day at work, meetings, coffee breaks, an evening workout, and a quick dash to dinner are the events that make up a usual day. Between the packed routine and a morning that requires me to tote around all of the essentials I'll need in the day have inspired me to put together a little emergency kit for those unexpected headaches, stains, faulty buttons, and makeup meltdowns (for those brides in need, check out this wedding day essential kit from Wedding Week). Just a tiny pack to slip into a purse, discrete enough to make your fixes seem effortless and make you a hero in the eyes of anyone in need. Here are few items that I'll have tucked away in my bag this week during a whirlwind trip to New York:

Clear nailpolish and your matching manicure shade: I dab on a chipped nail plus a swipe of the clear coat clears up ay hand modeling woes.

Advil: Headaches relief in an instant (plus cramps because that is complete torture without medication)

Band aids: Blisters = an unpleasant trek on even the shortest walks.

Tweezers and nail clipper: Perfect to quickly remove a stray hair and cut/remedy chipped nails.

Handheld mirror: Because any of these touch-ups are nearly impossible to perform without some sort of handheld guidance. Plus it's a great way to check the back of your hair...or spy on the people around you.

Hand cream: An easy way to quickly soften hands and manage cuticles in a pinch

A tampon: Not that glamorous, but everyone has been there and all girls should be required to carry one just to help out others in need.

A bright lip/cheek duo: When your makeup has faded, a colored lip can brighten the face quickly and easily, plus it's a great way to add a bit of color to checks in a pinch.

Makeup / hand wipes: Quickly fix a smudge and use it to lightly dab unwanted tears while removing running mascara at the same time.

Atomizer: Carry along your favorite perfume for a mid-day refresher

$15: More convenient that breaking a $20 and enough to get you home, pay for parking, or pick up someones tab on the way out.

A small piece of jewelry: Just like the lipstick in your bag, a small piece of jewelry can transform any work look into an evening outfit.

Pack it all up in a bright kit that doesn't look like a bulky first aid kit when you pull it out an throw it into your bag without complete confidence that any unexpected mishaps along the way will quickly and stylishly be fixed.

  1. I love these ideas! I rely on my emergency kit in my purse all the time. One thing I recommend are Clean and Clear oil-absorbing sheets. Perfect for removing excess oil for a fresher look!

  4. Very smart. I can't even tell you how many times I've cursed myself for not having tweezers or my manicure shade with me!
